Wow Philippines

A little hospital in imus introduced me to the most wonderful colleagues one could ever ask for. Doctors who will make each gruelling duty seems like a walk in the park.People who can draw smiles in your face even after a "difficult" patient. Time will fly by unnoticed when we are collected in one place. A crowd that can really bring the house down ;p Its been a long time since we are all charted in one geographical point. And i can really say: Du fehlst mir!

Join me as I look back to the medical mission we spearheaded. A medical mission cum leisure

DAY 1:

Armed with 13 boxes of medicines we sailed to Palawan to extend our medical expertise. Eleven dedicated doctors , a nurse and a Palawan-born citizen comprised our medical mission team

GSK was kind enough to shoulder the expenses for Negros Navigation, our official carrier to Palawan.

We left South Harbor at around 6pm, an hour late of the published time. It was a 12-hour sea travel. Luckily, we brought our magic sing. Videoke kept us from boredom...

"..under the boardwalk..."

Day 2

Our first destination: Culion Island

One of the main islands in the Calamianes Group, Culion forms the Southern edge of Coron Bay. An island of peace and quiet, time has stood still for Culion.

The small but beautiful picturesque island has charmed us with its powder white sandy beaches, crystal green-blue waters and black marble caves.

Culion is a veritable masterpiece of nature with its blend of pristine white sand beaches, wonderful dive sites, virgin forests and rolling hills. It is as picturesque as its stunning land-and-seascape.

We trekked to the highest point of the island to appreaciate more of this interesting masterpiece of nature.

Day 3

The Mesical Mission

"I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; I will not refuse to do the something I can do"

Being in the medical field, helping others is our way of life but doing a medical mission with our efforts as its backbone uplifts the passion to a greater level. You will find, as you look back, these moments will stand out.

FUN TIME

Pre and Post mission kulitan always involve a digicam and whatever pose we could think of .

DAY 3.5 - 4

LANGGAMAN ISLAND

a voyage into an unknown wilderness, the beginning of a journey of a lifetime as we pass through this remote island paradise,

exploring and experiencing natures diversity and this regions primal nature.

Our time in this island called Langgaman comprised of an evening with a beach fire, seafood overload dinner and drinks beneath a star filled sky and not to mention our non-stop (dawn till dusk) magic sing "birits".

After a traditional breakfast of fish, eggs and rice, we had an opportunity to glide over seas with sixty feet visibility ;p and snorkel into crystal clear water,

experienci ng a living rainbow bathed in aquamarine, drift through untouched reefs of hard and soft coral, swim among multicolored tropical fish of every shape and size parting like clouds with the swipe of a hand ;p

....Langgaman island, a remote island paradise.

DAY 4

Malcapuya Island

Our itinerary for the day : dip in an azure sea and immerse into the tropics as we launch into the open seas to explore the myriad islands of the Calamiane, experiencing white sand beaches rimmed by palm trees and pristine reefs in search of an ideal tropical wonderland

Eureka! At 11° 47' 24 N latitude, 120° 6' 54 E longitude we've indulge to the finest white sand (a lot better than Boracay's ;p )

the high noon did not hinder us from having fun in this haven called Malcapuya

KAYANGAN LAKE

Kayangan Lake, which is located in Coron Island, Northern Palawan is said to be the cleanest lake in the Philippines.

Sometimes called the Blue Lagoon, this freshwater lagoon is amidst sheer limestone cliffs. The beautiful picture-perfect scenery of lake Kayangan can be seen after a walk up the mountain trail.

Tricky and challenging stone steps leading to the top of the mountain, an exhausting exercise that made us perspire profusely

However, a dip in the lake,

where the water is a mixture of salt and fresh or brackish at body temperature, all worth it.

TWIN LAGOON

The twin lagoon nestled in a cathedral of huge limestone formation in what is known as Calis mountain.

It is filled with saltwater, has a temperature of about 20 degree Celsius. To swim to the place, you pass through a narrow opening on the side of the mountain.

Going through it is like moving into another world. The water is cool and colorful plants and trees cling to the sides of the gray limestone cliffs. The serenity of the place cleanses the mind of worries and stress caused by busy city life.

Sadly, we weren't able to enjoy this wonderful gift of nature....only 2 out of 13 knows how to dive...high tide so diving is a skill necessarily to get pass the narrow opening.

We just enjoyed the water and the scenery outside the portal.

Maquinit Hot Spring

Maquinit Salt Water Hot Spring is the only known saltwater hot spring in the Philippines, if not in the world. With its 40 degree Celsius water temperature, a dip into a huge pool is considered therapeutic. Tension is eased from nerves and muscles while the mildly hot saltwater cleanses the skin

Located at the east side of the town, this Palawan wonder lies between a mountain and the blue sea whose shores are lined with mangrove trees... It is a good thing that we all agreed to drop by this wonderful piece of nature

DAY 5

Busuanga Island

The adventure is over.

Everything gets over, and nothing is ever enough.

Except the part that will always remain with us..the memories of Palawan.

Nothing is so dear as what you're about to leave
